Constipation: Symptoms & Causes

Constipation is a condition of the digestive system that has hard feces that are difficult for an individual to excrete. Most often, this occurs because the colon has absorbed too much water from food in the colon. The slower the food moves through the digestive tract, the more water is absorbed from the colon. As a result, the feces become dry and hard. When this happens, emptying the intestine can be very painful. This article describes the main causes of constipation and how it can be treated and prevented.
